From T-Shirt to Tool: How Recycled Clothing Becomes Industrial-Grade Wipers
Don’t Toss It. Transform It.
When most people throw away old clothing, they see garbage. We see potential -especially when it comes to fabrics like cotton, fleece, and denim.
At Toronto Rags, we repurpose used textiles into high-performance wiping rags used across Canada by auto shops, HVAC crews, painters, plumbers, and industrial teams.
Step 1: Sorting with Purpose
We process thousands of pounds of used clothing each week. Each piece is inspected for:
-
Fabric quality (absorbent, natural fibers preferred)
-
Condition (no heavy stains or synthetics)
-
Color (white, grey, coloured options sorted separately)
Step 2: Selecting Only What Works
We focus on materials that work under pressure:
-
Cotton t-shirts (white and coloured)
-
Fleece (excellent for oil & grease)
-
Denim (durable and reusable)
-
Sheeting (for light, lint-free jobs)
Step 3: Cut, Clean, and Pack
Once sorted, garments are:
-
Cut to size for maximum usability
-
Checked for contaminants
-
Packed by weight (20 lb and 25 lb bags) and use case
Some white cotton rags are for painters. Others are heavy fleece for oil cleanup. We don’t pack random scraps. We pack with purpose.
Why Recycled Wipers Beat Disposable Alternatives
-
Cheaper per use
-
Reusable and more absorbent
-
Less environmental impact
-
Trusted by professionals
Let Fabric Work Twice
Every rag tells a story. Some were once uniforms. Some were old gym shirts. Now, they help finish jobs, clean tools, or wipe down engines.
If you're in the trades, you already know: You don’t need fancy. You need reliable.
